Advanced Search is useful to work on a large number of records in your database at one time.
Go to Search sub-tab under a specific entity (org, contact, opportunity, case) to get to Advanced Search page.
Here are some examples of the use of Advanced Search:
1), It can be used by administrators to Delete entities such as Contacts/Organizaions
2), It can be used by administrators to Add Team Members Access to an entity such as a Contact/Organization
3), It can be used by administrators or users to Update or Add a Value to a field for the Contacts/Organizations. Such as update Addresses, Email Addresses, Phone Numbers, etc.
4), It can be used by administrators or users to Mark the Contact for Sync between EBSuite's database and MS Outlook, Palm, and Apple's iCal.
Advanced Search can be based on any standard fields or custom fields. you may search multiple fileds at the same time. A multiple filed search is based on AND logic, which will return results if each statement is TRUE in the search parameters.
you may save your search for use later.
You can now use TODAY (ALL CAPS) in your search and view definition. Examples:
- Creation Date > TODAY-90 Will show records created for the past 3 months or 90 days.
- Last Update Date between TODAY-30,TODAY-5 Will show records updated for five days from today and going back 30 days.
- Expected Close Date < TODAY+30 Will show records with expected close dates in the next 30 days from today.
- You can of course still use clauses like between 08/01/2005,08/30/2005
For those who are familiar with SQL statement, you can use % to narrow the search when you use Contains to setup search criteria. For example, you want to search for a person (John Smith) but you do not remember exactly the spelling of his name, you can use Search Criteria Display Name contains J%h .
